The winter round of Hands-On History Saturdays will focus on textiles: sewing, clothes, fancywork, quilting, knitting, and much more! We will share new artifacts every week and participants will have an opportunity to do an activity or create something to bring home. These are drop-in, hands-on learning opportunities that are great for families, you can stay for 5 minutes or the whole hour. Check our Facebook and website (www.elkhornvalleymuseum.org) for more information. Included with museum admission, members are free.

January 3rd – 1pm-2pm – Hands-On History: Textiles – Spinning & Fibers

Let’s start with the basics. Thread the needle and sew three sides using 3 different stitches. We’ll help you out as you create a small pincushion to take home. Pioneer children would have learned these skills early on, but we’ll teach you at any age. Also examine historic sewing tools.

Hands-On History Saturdays
The winter round of Hands-On History Saturdays will focus on textiles: sewing, clothes, fancywork, quilting, knitting, and much more! We will share new artifacts every week and participants will have an opportunity to do an activity or create something to bring home. These are drop-in, hands-on learning opportunities that are great for families, you can stay for 5 minutes or the whole hour. Check our Facebook and website (www.elkhornvalleymuseum.org) for more information. Included with museum admission, members are free.
